Informe de Batalla - Battle Report Impetus Napoleonic - French vs Spanish
En el grupo seguimos probando el mod napoleónico para Impetus, en esta ocasión jugando una batalla entre franceses y españoles en la península a 400 puntos. Tras la oportuna tirada para decidir atacante y defensor (2d6 + Número de unidades de Caballería del ejército), los españoles defendían frente al ataque francés.
In our gaming group we continue trying the Napoleonic mod for Impetus, in this occasion we play a battle between French and Spanish in the peninsula, 400 points per army. After the roll to decide attacker and defender (2d6 + Number of Cavalry units of the army), the Spanish defended against the French attack.

El punto de ruptura del ejército francés es de 19, mientras que el ejército español tiene un punto de ruptura de 21 puntos.

El terreno de juego es el mostrado. Con una carretera que cruzaba el terreno, dos colinas en la zona del atacante francés, dos sembrados en el centro y un bosque a la izquierda.
The table terrain is the shown. A road that crossed the terrain, two hills in the zone of the French attacker, two fields in the center and a forest to the left.
El español decidió dividir su mando en dos partes, por lo que desplegó un mando en primer lugar, después el atacante desplegó su ejército y el defensor desplegó el segundo mando.
The Spanish General decided to divide his army into two parts, so he deployed a general first, then the attacker deployed his army and the defender deployed the second general.
El ejército francés desplegó su artillería en la colina central con la intención de tener bajo tiro a la mayor parte del ejército español. A la izquierda se desplegaron los dragones franceses para presionar el flanco derecho español, seguidos de un regimiento de granaderos de línea. En el centro y flanco izquierdo francés se desplegaron las cuatro columnas de ataque, precedidas por los hostigadores Voltigueurs y el general, con la intención de avanzar directos hacia el enemigo y romper su línea.
El ejercito español por su parte desplegó en el centro una mezcla de infantería de línea, hostigadores guerrilleros, toda su artillería e infantería ligera, dejando desprotegido su flanco izquierdo. A la derecha desplegó cuatro unidades de infantería de línea con hostigadores guerrilleros y tres unidades de Caballería Media con la intención de flanquear el ejército francés y sus columnas de ataque.
Los turnos en Impetus se deciden de forma aleatoria al principio de turno, lanzando 2D6 y sumando el mando de los generales. Por suerte para el francés en su primera tirada de General obtuvo un doble 6, subiendo el general de categoría de Experto a Carismático, y sumando +4 en todas las tiradas de iniciativa de la partida, lo que llevó al general francés a ganar todas las iniciativas de la partida.
The French army deployed its artillery on the central hill with the intention of having under shot the greater part of the Spanish army. To the left the French Dragoons were deployed to press the Spanish right flank, followed by a regiment of line grenadiers. In the center and left French flank were deployed the four attack columns, preceded by Voltigueurs skirmishers and the general, with the intention to advance direct towards the enemy and break its line.
The Spanish army deployed in the center a mixture of line infantry, guerrilla skirmishers, all their artillery cannons and light infantry, leaving their left flank unprotected. To the right he deployed four units of line infantry with guerrilla skirmishers and three units of Medium Cavalry with the intention of flanking the French army and its attack columns.
The turns in Impetus are decided randomly at the beginning of turn, throwing 2D6 and adding the command of the generals. Luckily for the French General, in his first roll he got a double 6, raising the overall category from Expert to Charismatic, and adding +4 in all the initiative rolls of the game, which led the French general to win all Initiatives of the game.
Primer Turno - Francés / First Turn - French
El ejército francés avanza con los dragones rápidamente por el flanco derecho francés. Las columnas de ataque junto con los voltigueurs avanzan y los granaderos avanzan hacia el sembrado. La artillería francesa abre fuego contra la artillería española, causando desorden pero sin causar baja gracias a las buenas tiradas del general español.
The French army advances with the dragons quickly by the right flank. The attack columns along with the voltigueurs advance and the grenadiers advance toward the field. The French artillery opens fire against the Spanish artillery, causing disorder but without causing loss thanks to the good rolls of the Spanish general.
Primer Turno -Españoles / First Turn - Spanish
El ejército Español mueve lateralmente dos de sus regimientos hacia su flanco izquierdo a la vez que avanza con sus guerrilleros hacia el sembrado. Su artillería abre fuego contra la artillería francesa, causando una baja en una de ellas. Su caballería maniobra en el flanco derecho para atacar las columnas francesas.
The Spanish army moves two of its regiments to its left flank while advancing with its guerrillas to the field. Its artillery opens fire against the French artillery, causing damage in one of them. His cavalry maneuver on the right flank to attack the French columns.
Segundo turno - Franceses / Second Turn - French
Los dragones franceses prosiguen en su avance hacia el flanco izquierdo español, aunque al encontrarse desordenados no avanzan mucho. Así mismo, las columnas y voltigueurs franceses avanzan hacia la línea española al son de los tambores mientras miles de voces gritan Vive l'Empereur!!

Viéndose amenazado el flanco izquierdo del ejército el general español decide pivotar hacia la caballería francesa. Avanzan sus guerrilleros y la infantería de línea 4, así como sus dragones prosiguen hacia el flanco izquierdo francés.
Seeing threatened the left flank of the Spanish army, the general decides to swing towards the French cavalry. They advance their guerrillas and line infantry 4, and their dragoons continue towards the French left flank.
Tercer turno - Franceses / Third Turn - French
Los dragones franceses prosiguen su avance, mientras los granaderos abren fuego contra los guerrilleros, causando desorden entre sus filas. Las columnas de ataque francesas prosiguen su camino excepto la columna 4, la cual rota y forma en cuadro, abriendo fuego contra los dragones y causando bajas en una de las unidades.
The French Dragoons continue their advance, while the grenadiers open fire against the guerrillas, causing disorder between its rows. The French attack columns continue their way except column 4, which rotates and forms in square, opening fire against the spanish dragoons and causing casualties in one of the units.
Tercer turno - Españoles / Third Turn - Spanish
El flanco izquierdo español sigue amenazado por lo que el general español se mueve hacia él. El ala derecha española avanza hacia el sembrado. La caballería permanece a la espera mientras un regimiento avanza, obligando a la columna francesa a permanecer en cuadro.
The Spanish left flank remains threatened so the Spanish general moves towards him. The Spanish right wing advances towards the field. The cavalry remains waiting while a regiment advances, forcing the French column to remain in square.
Cuarto turno - Franceses / Fourth Turn - French
Los dragones prosiguen hacia el flanco izquierdo español y aprovecha el error cometido por su general al dejar unos hostigadores al descubierto, cargando por el flanco los dragones y dispersándolos. Las columnas prosiguen su avance, mientras los hostigadores comienzan a abrir fuego, eliminando una unidad de guerrilleros españoles y una unidad de dragones.

Quinto turno - Franceses / Fifth Turn - French
Los dragones franceses pivotan y se dirigen hacia el flanco izquierdo español, mientras los granaderos avanzan por el sembrado para obligar a los españoles a no enviar refuerzos contra la caballería. Las columnas prosiguen su avance disparando contra la infantería de línea española y causando las primeras bajas. Por su parte entre el cuadro francés y los voltigueurs disparan y causan algunas bajas a los dragones españoles. La artillería de la colina pivota para encararse contra la amenaza.
The French dragoons pivot and head towards the Spanish left flank, while the grenadiers advance through the field to force the Spanish not to send reinforcements against the cavalry. Quinto turno - Españoles / Fifth Turn - Spanish
Los españoles comienzan a abrir fuego contra los dragones, causando desorden y bajas. La artillería española dispara a las columnas causando bajas y desorden. El resto del ejército empieza a moverse para buscar los flancos de las columnas francesas. Los dragones españoles cargan contra los voltigueurs eliminándolos.
En este punto de la partida los españoles han perdido ya 5 puntos de ruptura, mientras que los franceses han perdido 1 punto de ruptura.
The Spanish begin to open fire on the dragoons, causing disorder and casualties. Spanish artillery fires at the columns causing casualties and disorder. The rest of the army begins to move to look for the flanks of the French columns. The Spanish dragoons charge against the voltigueurs eliminating them.
At this point of the game the Spanish have lost 5 break points, while the French have lost 1 break point.
Sexto turno - Franceses / Sixth Turn - French
Los dragones franceses cargan contra la línea española que no llega a formar en cuadro pero aguanta, eliminando una unidad de dragones y quedando trabada con la otra unidad. Los granaderos franceses avanzan y abren fuego, causando bajas en la infantería española. Las columnas prosiguen su avance, mientras el cuadro francés permanece formado y dispara, sin causar daños, contra la caballería francesa.
The French dragoons charge against the Spanish line that does not form in square but it endorses, eliminating a unit of dragoons and being in melee with the other unit. The French grenadiers advance and open fire, causing casualties in the Spanish infantry. The columns continue their advance, while the French square remains formed and fires, without causing damage, against the French cavalry.
Sexto Turno - Españoles / Sixth Turn - Spanish
La infantería española en el flanco izquierdo prosigue su combate contra los dragones, perdiéndolo y siendo eliminados. La artillería abre fuego contra los granaderos franceses y causan bajas. Todo el flanco derecho español flanquea las columnas francesas y abren fuego a corta distancia con los guerrilleros y su artillería, eliminando una unidad de voltigueurs, una columna francesa y media columna pegada al sembrado.
Al final del sexto turno los españoles han perdido 8 puntos de ruptura y los franceses 14 puntos, complicando la partida al general francés. La caballería prosigue su avance para atacar la artillería francesa y la retaguardia de las columnas.

El general francés empieza a ver la batalla perdida pero decide atacar con todo lo que le queda. La artillería abre fuego contra los dragones españoles, eliminándolos. Los dragones franceses atacan la artillería española por el flanco, eliminándola. Las columnas detienen su avance ante el fuego español y disparan y destruyen otro regimiento español de línea.
The French general begins to see the battle lost but decides to attack with all. The artillery opens fire against the Spanish dragoons, eliminating them. The French dragoons attack the Spanish artillery by the flank, eliminating it. The columns stop their advance due to the Spanish fire and shoot, destroying another Spanish regiment of line.
Séptimo turno - Españoles - Seventh Turn - Spanish
El general español prosigue su ataque a las columnas francesas sin causar daños, para alivio del general francés. Mientras que los dragones españoles consigue llevar a cabo 4 movimientos seguidos sin desordenarse, (5+, 6, 6), destruyendo la unidad de artillería francesa y dejando al general francés boquiabierto.
Al final del séptimo turno los españoles han perdido 15 puntos de ruptura y los franceses 15 puntos, pudiendo el turno 8 resolver la partida para cualquiera de los jugadores. Siendo en este turno la iniciativa imprescindible y volviendo a ganarla el general francés.
The Spanish general continued his attack on the French columns without causing any damage, to the relief of the French general. At the end of the seventh turn, the Spanish have lost 15 break points and the French 15 points, with turn 8 being able to resolve the game for any of the players. Being in this turn indispensable win the initiative and again, the French general won it.
Octavo turno - Franceses / Eighth Turn - french
El cuadro francés sin caballería cerca forma en columna de ataque y carga contra la infantería de línea española, destruyéndola en un solo turno. Los granaderos franceses avanzan y disparan contra la infantería española, causando bajas. Los dragones franceses intentan cargar contra la artillería española, quedando a un centímetro de conseguirlo. La columna francesa 1 carga contra la infantería española y la desbanda, en la persecución contacta a la artillería la cual también es destruida.
De esta forma los franceses eliminan otros 7 puntos españoles en un turno, dando un total de 22 puntos, ganando de esta forma la partida en el último momento. Aunque la victoria es francesa ha costado gran cantidad de hombres.

The French column 1 charges against the Spanish infantry and they destroying it, in the persecution it contacts the artillery which is also destroyed.
In this turn the French eliminate another 7 Spanish points in a turn, giving a total of 22 points, thus winning the game at the last moment. Although the victory is French, it has cost a lot of men.
Conclusiones / Conclusions
Partida muy igualada entre ambos ejércitos, la cual podría haber ganado cualquiera de ellos. El mod nos gusta cada vez más ya que simula muy bien las columnas de ataque francesas y como estas sufren frente al fuego de artillería o mosquetes por los flancos.
Very close game between both armies, which could have won any of them. we like the mod more and more as it simulates very well the French attack columns and how they suffer in front of the artillery fire or muskets on the flanks.

Los dragones franceses cargan contra la línea española que no llega a formar en cuadro pero aguanta, eliminando una unidad de dragones y quedando trabada con la otra unidad. Los granaderos franceses avanzan y abren fuego, causando bajas en la infantería española. Las columnas prosiguen su avance, mientras el cuadro francés permanece formado y dispara, sin causar daños, contra la caballería francesa.
The French dragoons charge against the Spanish line that does not form in square but it endorses, eliminating a unit of dragoons and being in melee with the other unit. The French grenadiers advance and open fire, causing casualties in the Spanish infantry. The columns continue their advance, while the French square remains formed and fires, without causing damage, against the French cavalry.
Sexto Turno - Españoles / Sixth Turn - Spanish
La infantería española en el flanco izquierdo prosigue su combate contra los dragones, perdiéndolo y siendo eliminados. La artillería abre fuego contra los granaderos franceses y causan bajas. Todo el flanco derecho español flanquea las columnas francesas y abren fuego a corta distancia con los guerrilleros y su artillería, eliminando una unidad de voltigueurs, una columna francesa y media columna pegada al sembrado.
Al final del sexto turno los españoles han perdido 8 puntos de ruptura y los franceses 14 puntos, complicando la partida al general francés. La caballería prosigue su avance para atacar la artillería francesa y la retaguardia de las columnas.

El general francés empieza a ver la batalla perdida pero decide atacar con todo lo que le queda. La artillería abre fuego contra los dragones españoles, eliminándolos. Los dragones franceses atacan la artillería española por el flanco, eliminándola. Las columnas detienen su avance ante el fuego español y disparan y destruyen otro regimiento español de línea.

El general español prosigue su ataque a las columnas francesas sin causar daños, para alivio del general francés. Mientras que los dragones españoles consigue llevar a cabo 4 movimientos seguidos sin desordenarse, (5+, 6, 6), destruyendo la unidad de artillería francesa y dejando al general francés boquiabierto.
Al final del séptimo turno los españoles han perdido 15 puntos de ruptura y los franceses 15 puntos, pudiendo el turno 8 resolver la partida para cualquiera de los jugadores. Siendo en este turno la iniciativa imprescindible y volviendo a ganarla el general francés.

Octavo turno - Franceses / Eighth Turn - french
El cuadro francés sin caballería cerca forma en columna de ataque y carga contra la infantería de línea española, destruyéndola en un solo turno. Los granaderos franceses avanzan y disparan contra la infantería española, causando bajas. Los dragones franceses intentan cargar contra la artillería española, quedando a un centímetro de conseguirlo. La columna francesa 1 carga contra la infantería española y la desbanda, en la persecución contacta a la artillería la cual también es destruida.
De esta forma los franceses eliminan otros 7 puntos españoles en un turno, dando un total de 22 puntos, ganando de esta forma la partida en el último momento. Aunque la victoria es francesa ha costado gran cantidad de hombres.

Conclusiones / Conclusions
Partida muy igualada entre ambos ejércitos, la cual podría haber ganado cualquiera de ellos. El mod nos gusta cada vez más ya que simula muy bien las columnas de ataque francesas y como estas sufren frente al fuego de artillería o mosquetes por los flancos.
Very close game between both armies, which could have won any of them. we like the mod more and more as it simulates very well the French attack columns and how they suffer in front of the artillery fire or muskets on the flanks.
