How to paint Rebel Troopers for Star Wars Legion

Bienvenidos de nuevo al Blog. Continuamos pintando miniaturas para Star Wars Legion de Fantasy Flight Games, en este caso nos centramos en las tropas básicas rebeldes, los soldados rebeldes. Estas unidades al ser básicas y tener que pintar tres exactamente iguales he preferido aplicar colores base, tintas y decorar las bases.

Welcome back to the Blog. We continue painting miniatures for Star Wars Legion from Fantasy Flight Games. In this article we focus on the basic rebel troops, the rebel soldiers. These units are basic and we need to paint three of them exactly equal, so, I preferred to apply base colors, shades and make their bases.

1º Imprimación - Primer

Vallejo Surface Primer

En primer lugar he imprimado los soldados rebeldes con Surface Primer de Vallejo pintado con aerógrafo.

First of all I primed the Rebel Troopers with Vallejo Surface Primer painted with an airbrush.

2º Ropa - Clothes

921 English Uniform - Vallejo

872 Chocolate Brown - Vallejo

893 US Dark Green - Vallejo

819 Iraqui Sand - Vallejo

816 Luftwaffe Uniform WWII - Vallejo

847 Dark Sand - Vallejo

821 German Camo Beige WWII - Vallejo

Para la ropa de nuestras tropas básicas rebeldes he utilizado gran cantidad de colores y he ido alternando los colores entre las miniaturas. Es algo muy sencillo, simplemente coges un color y pintas algo de un par de miniaturas, luego el siguiente y así sucesivamente hasta que todas las miniaturas de la unidad tengan la ropa terminada. De esta forma nos aseguramos de que cada miniatura está pintada de forma distinta e introduce esa variación y carencia de uniformidad en nuestras unidades, pero, al usar una paleta de tonos verdes/tierra quedarán todos integrados.

For the clothes of our basic troops I used a great amount of colors and I applied it alternatively between miniatures. It's very simple, just take a color and paint something in a couple of miniatures, then use the next color and so on until all the miniatures in the unit have their clothes finished. In this way we make sure that each model is painted in a new way and we present that variation and lack of uniformity in our units.

Tintas utilizadas - Shades used

Tinta Reikland Fleshshade - GW, aplicada a la piel.

Shade - Reikland Fleshshade - GW, applied to the skin.

Tinta Agrax Earthshade - GW, aplicada al resto excepto armas.

Shade Agrax Earthshade - GW, applied to the rest, except weapons.

Tinta Nuln Oil - GW, aplicada a las armas.

Shade Nuln Oil - GW, applied to the weapons.

Baseado - Basing

Para el baseado he seguido los mismos pasos que para los soldados de la flota  y la Princesa Leia.

For basing I follow the same steps that I used for my rebel fleet troopers and Princess Leia.

1º Aplico Pasta Arena Desierto de Vallejo en algunas zonas de la peana, el resto las pinto con 872 Marrón Chocolate de Vallejo. Será en este paso en el que añada también algunas piedras a la peana.

1º I applied Desert Sand Earth Texture from Vallejo in some areas of the base, I painted the rest with 872 Chocolate Brown. It will be in this step where you also can add some stones to the bases.

2º Sobra las zonas anteriormente pintadas de marrón aplico la pasta Agrellan Earth de Games Workshop y espero que seque 24 horas.

2º Above the areas previously painted in brown, I applied Agrellan Earth texture from Games Workshop and I wait 24 hours.

3º Una vez seca la textura Agrellan Earth aplico sobre toda la base una tinta Agrax Earthshade para oscurecer y unificar tonos.

3º Once the texture is dry, I applied a Shade of Agrax Earthshade over the entire base to darken and unify it.

4º Por último aplico sobre la peana dos pinceles secos con 819 - Iraqui Sand y 847 - Dark Sand sobre toda la peana, incluyendo las zonas texturizadas con agrellan y las piedras. Por último pinto el borde de la peana con 921 - Uniforme Inglés. En este momento también se pueden añadir algunas plantas o hierbas decorativas.

4º Finally, I applied two dry brushes with 819 - Iraqui Sand and 847 - Dark Sand on the base, including the textured areas with agrellan and the stones. Finally I painted the edge of the base with 921 - English uniform. At this moment you can add some tufts.
