How to paint Rebels Fleet Troopers for Star Wars Legion

Desde que Star Wars Legion salió a la venta he ido coleccionando, pintando y jugando con todas las miniaturas que Fantasy Flight Games ha ido sacando, y pienso seguir haciéndolo. Aunque tengo gran cantidad de miniaturas pintadas, y no he hecho sus guías de pintura, tengo excusa. Este año ha sido un año lleno de aventuras (tesis doctoral, piso, mudanza, boda). Así que por fin vuelvo a tener más tiempo para dedicar al Blog y espero continuar teniéndolo...

Since Star Wars Legion went on sale I have been collecting, painting and playing with all the models that Fantasy Flight Games has been selling, and I'm going to continue doing so. Although I have lots of painted miniatures, and I have not done their painting guides, I have an excuse. This year has been a year full of adventures (doctoral thesis, new flat, and wedding). So finally I have more time to write in this Blog and I hope to continue having time ...

Aunque no he hecho fotos del proceso de pintado del resto de miniaturas de Star Wars Legion que ya tengo pintadas, con el tiempo iré poniendo la foto terminada y los colores y proceso seguido para pintarlos.

Although I haven't made photos of the painting process of my others Star Wars Legion miniatures, I want to write a little painting guide with some finished photos of them.

En esta guía explico cómo he pintado paso a paso los Soldados Rebeldes de la Flota para Star Wars Legion. Una miniaturas que a mi me parecen soberbias y que dan un toque distinto a cualquier ejército rebelde.

In this guide I explain how I have painted step by step my Rebels Fleet Troopers for Star Wars Legion. These miniatures are greats and give a different touch to any rebel army.

Proceso de pintado - Painting process

Ya que tengo que pintar varios ejércitos completos con gran cantidad de miniaturas prefiero un método de pintura lo más rápido posible, aplicando colores base y posteriormente hacer uso de tintas. Normalmente no aplico luces después de las tintas, para ahorrar tiempo, y porque me gusta el aspecto sucio y de campaña que se les queda a las miniaturas.

Since I have to paint several complete armies with lots of miniatures I prefer a painting method as fast as possible, applying base colors and later make use of inks. Normally I do not apply lights after the inks to save time and because I like the dirty and campaign aspect that they have left to the miniatures.

Imprimación - Primer
Vallejo Surface Primer

En primer lugar imprimo todas las miniaturas con el Surface Primer de Vallejo pintado con el aerógrafo.
First of all I primed all the miniatures with the Surface Primer of Vallejo painted with an airbrush.

Caras y manos - Flesh
Cadian Fleshtone - Games Workshop
887 - Brown Violet - Vallejo Model Color

Tras la imprimación procedo a pintar las caras y manos de las miniaturas.
After priming I proceed to paint the faces and hands of the miniatures.

Camisas - Shirts

943 - Grey Blue - Vallejo Model Color

819 - Iraqi Sand - Vallejo Model Color

872 - Chocolate Brown - Vallejo Model Color

El siguiente paso será pintar las camisas de los soldados con el color 943 Grey Blue y la chaqueta del líder de la unidad con 819 Iraqi Sand. La camisa del líder y los laterales del pantalón los he pintado con marrón chocolate.

Next step will be paint the soldiers' shirts with the color 943 Grey Blue and the jacket of the leader with 819 Iraqi Sand. I painted the shirt of the leader and the stripes of the pants with chocolate brown.

Cinturón, hebilla y arma - Belt, buckle and weapon

872 - Chocolate Brown - Vallejo Model Color

865 - Oily Steel - Vallejo Model Color

A continuación pintamos el cinturón con marrón chocolate y la hebilla del cinturón y la punta del arma con Oily Steel de Vallejo.

After that I paint the belt with chocolate brown and the buckle and tip of the gun with Oily Steel from Vallejo.

Pantalones - Pants

943 - Grey Blue - Vallejo Model Color

870 - Medium Sea Grey - Vallejo Model Color

950 - Black - Vallejo Model Color

819 - Iraqi Sand - Vallejo Model Color

Para pintar los pantalones he utilizado una mezcla con proporción 3/3/2, (3 - Grey Blue) (3 - Medium Sea Grey) (2 - Black). Para el oficial he utilizado el mismo color que la chaqueta, Iraqui Sand.

For painting the pants I have used a mix of 3/3/2, (3 - Grey Blue) (3 - Medium Sea Grey) (2 - Black). For the officer I have used the same colour of the jacket, Iraqui Sand.

Botas, Chaleco, arma, casco - Boots, vest, weapon, helmet

950 - Black - Vallejo Model Color

995 - German Grey - Vallejo Model Color

921 - English Uniform - Vallejo Model Color

Para todas las zonas oscuras he decidido hacer una mezcla al 50% de Negro y Gris Alemán para obtener un tono oscuro pero que permita ser sombreado posteriormente mediante tintas. Para la parte superior de la chaqueta del oficial he utilizado el color 921 Uniforme Inglés.

For all the dark areas I have decided to make a 50% mixture of Black and German Grey to obtain a dark tone. For the top of the officer's jacket I used the colour 921 English uniform.

Casco - Helmet

951 - White - Vallejo Model Color

Por último, repaso con blanco el casco y las zonas más claras.

Finally, I repainted with white the helmet and other white areas.

Es hora de las Tintas! - It's Shades Time!

Tintas utilizadas - Shades used

Tinta Reikland Fleshshade - GW, aplicada a la piel.

Shade - Reikland Fleshshade - GW, applied to the skin.

Tinta Nuln Oil (1) + Lahmian Medium (4) - GW, aplicada al casco y armas.

Shade - Nuln Oil (1) + Lahmian Medium (4) - GW, applied to the helmet and weapon.

Tinta Drakenhof NightShade (1) + Agrax Earthshade (1) + Lahmian Medium (4) - GW, aplicada al resto excepto casco y armas.

Shade Drakenhof NightShade (1) + Agrax Earthshade (1) + Lahmian Medium (4) - GW, applied to the rest, except helmet and weapon.

Para el oficial he utilizado

Tinta Nuln Oil (1) + Agrax Earthshade (1) + Lahmian Medium (2) - GW, aplicada a todo excepto casco y armas.

Shades Nuln Oil (1) + Agrax Earthshade (1) + Lahmian Medium (2) - GW, applied to the rest, except helmet and weapon.

Baseado - Basing

Para el baseado sigo los siguientes pasos:

For basing I follow the next steps:

1º Aplico Pasta Arena Desierto de Vallejo en algunas zonas de la peana, el resto las pinto con 872 Marrón Chocolate de Vallejo. Será en este paso en el que añada también algunas piedras a la peana.

1º I applied Desert Sand Earth Texture from Vallejo in some areas of the base, I painted the rest with 872 Chocolate Brown. It will be in this step where you also can add some stones to the bases.

2º Sobra las zonas anteriormente pintadas de marrón aplico la pasta Agrellan Earth de Games Workshop y espero que seque 24 horas.

2º Above the areas previously painted in brown, I applied Agrellan Earth texture from Games Workshop and I wait 24 hours.

 3º Una vez seca la textura Agrellan Earth aplico sobre toda la base una tinta Agrax Earthshade para oscurecer y unificar tonos.

3º Once the texture is dry, I applied a Shade of Agrax Earthshade over the entire base to darken and unify it.

 4º Por último aplico sobre la peana dos pinceles secos con 819 - Iraqui Sand y 847 - Dark Sand sobre toda la peana, incluyendo las zonas texturizadas con agrellan y las piedras. Por último pinto el borde de la peana con 921 - Uniforme Inglés.

4º Finally, I applied two dry brushes with 819 - Iraqui Sand and 847 - Dark Sand on the base, including the textured areas with agrellan and the stones. Finally I painted the edge of the base with 921 - English uniform.

Pues hasta aquí este tutorial de pintura, el próximo será para la princesa Leia Organa la cual ya tengo casi terminada de pintar.
