Informe de Batalla - Battle Report Impetus Napoleonic. French vs British
Segunda partida de prueba del mod napoleónico para Impetus, en esta ocasión jugando una batalla entre franceses y británicos a 400 puntos. En esta ocasión los franceses atacaron la línea británica. En la tirada de climatología salió lluvia, teniendo un -2 de penalizador a los disparos, y -1 a los test de disciplina por segundos movimientos
Second game, we continue trying the Napoleonic mod for Impetus, in this occasion we play a battle between French and British, 400 points per army. In this game, the French army attack the British Thin Red Line. In the climatology roll we obtain "rain". This mean that we have -2d6 to shots and -1 to discipline test for second movements.

El ejército británico desplegó de izquierda a derecha las siguientes unidades. Encima de la colina un regimiento de caballería pesada Scots Greys, una unidad de artillería ligera de 6pdr y un batallón de highlanders escoceses. Cruzando la carretera otro regimiento de caballería pesada Scots Greys. En el centro 2 batallones de infantería de línea con unos hostigadores del 95th Rifles, una unidad de artillería ligera y otro batallón de highlanders escoceses. En el flanco derecho y atravesando el sembrado el general británico desplegó dos batallones de infantería de línea, unos hostigadores del 95th Rifles y un regimiento de Caballería Ligera Dragones.
The British Army deployed from left to right the following units. Atop of the hill a heavy cavalry regiment of Scots Greys, a unit of 6pdr light artillery and a Scottish Highlanders battalion. Crossing the road another heavy cavalry regiment of Scots Greys. In the center of the line two british infantry battalions with a company of skirmishers from 95th Rifles, a unit of british light artillery and another Scottish highlanders battalion. On the british right flank and across the field the British General deployed two line infantry battalions, another company of skirmishers from 95th Rifles and a Light Cavalry Dragoons regiment.
El general francés despliega su infantería en columnas de ataque, viendo de esta forma reducido su frente. De izquierda a derecha despliega una gran unidad de infantería de línea, una unidad de artillería. Un batallón de granaderos de línea seguido por un regimiento de dragones. Una gran unidad de infantería de línea y una unidad de artillería ligera sobre la colina. Sobre la carretera una compañía de voltigueurs y una columna de ataque de infantería de línea. A continuación un regimiento de dragones y otra columna de ataque con una compañía de voltigueurs en su frontal.
The French Army deployed his infantry in attack column formation. From left to right deploys a large line infantry unit, a light artillery units and a line grenadiers battalion followed by a dragoon regiment. A large line infantry units and another light artillery unit on the hill. On the road the general deployed a company of voltigueurs and a line infantry attack column. Next a french dragoons regiment and another attack column with a company of voltigueurs.
Primer Turno / First Turn
Ambos ejército avanzan para acercar sus posiciones. El general francés toma el mando de la columna francesa de la carretera. Comienza el fuego de artillería por ambos bandos sin causar daños debido a los penalizadores por lluvia.
Both armies advance to bring their positions closer. The French General takes command of the french column of the road. Artillery units start firing on both sides without causing damage due to rain penalties.
Segundo Turno / Second Turn
Ambos ejércitos siguen aproximándose disparando su artillería sin causar daños en el rival, a excepción de algún desorden. Las líneas de hostigadores británicas y francesas comienzan a avanzar y alejarse de las líneas y columnas.
Both armies continue approaching and firing their artillery without causing damage, expect some disorder. The british and french skirmishers begin to move forward and away from the lines and columns.
Tercer Turno / Third Turn
Prosigue el avance de ambos ejércitos, la caballería pesada británica comienza a maniobrar para atacar el flanco izquierda francés. Comienzan los primeros disparos de los rifles británicos contra los voltigueurs franceses, causando desorden pero sin bajas.
The advance of both armies continues. The british heavy cavalry begins to maneuver to attack the french left flank. The british rifles begin to shots against the french voltigueurs, causing disorder but without losses. Damn rain! sir.
Cuarto Turno / Fourth Turn
Los Granaderos de línea franceses giran para enfrentarse a la caballería británica, mientras tanto los hostigadores británicos del centro comienzan a flanquearlos para dispararles. Prosigue el avance de ambas líneas sin graves daños debido a la lluvia.
The french line grenadier battalion turn to face british heavy cavalry, meanwhile the british skirmishers begin to flank them. The advance of both lines continues without serious damage due to the rain.
Quinto Turno / Fifth Turn
En una carga heroica el regimiento de dragones francés del flanco derecho carga contra los rifles británicos, los cuales disparan y mueren, la carga llega hasta las líneas británicas que se ven sorprendidas en formación en línea. (Cuando la caballería carga contra infantería en línea cuenta como carga por el flanco, es decir, si la infantería británica pierde la melé, es desbandada. Además la caballería francesa suma 2D6 a su ataque). Un batallón de infantería británica es destruido, mientras que el otro retrocede hacia el sembrado. En este turno los británicos han perdido 4 puntos de VD.
In a heroic charge the French dragoons of the right flank contact the British Rifles, which shoot and die, the charge continue and reach the British battalions in line formation. (When cavalry charges against infantry in line counts as charge by the flank, if the british infantry lose the mele, it is disbanded. In addition the french cavalry adds 2d6 to its attack). One british infantry battalion is destroyed, while the other back to the field. In this turn the british have lost 4 VD points.
Sexto Turno / Sixth Turn
La infantería británica en el sembrado avanza y dispara contra los dragones franceses, destruyendo el regimiento. El resto de la línea inglesa se detiene y dispara contra las columnas francesas centrales, haciendo bajas sobre los voltigueurs que la protegen. El 95 de rifles dispara contra el flanco de los granaderos franceses causando desorden. La caballería pesada británica prosigue su avance, mientras que el batallón de escoceses comienzan a sufrir bajas ante el fuego de artillería.
Las columnas francesas del flanco derecho prosiguen su avance hacia la línea británica, disparando aunque sin causar bajas. En este turno los británicos han perdido 4 puntos de VD y los franceses 3.
British infantry in the field advance and shoot against french dragoons, destroying the regiment. The resto of the English line stops and shoots against the central french column, causing damage on the voltigueurs companies. British heavy cavalry continues its advance, while the highlanders battalion begin to suffer losses due to artillery fire.
The french column of the right flank continue their advance towards the british line, firing without causing casualties. In this turn the British have lost 4 points of VD and the French 3 points.
Séptimo Turno / Seventh Turn
La caballería pesada británica al ser Impetuosa se ve obligada a cargar a través del sembrado de la izquierda a la columna francesa (IL5), mientras los escoceses siguen avanzando para apoyar el ataque. La infantería de línea británica (BLI4) y el 95th de rifles avanzan en la zona del bosque central, mientras que los dragones franceses pivotan para encarar la nueva amenaza. Los británicos intentan partir el frente francés. La infantería de línea británica (BLI3) gira para atacar la columna francesa por el flanco.
Mientras tanto los franceses atacan con su columna a los highlanders escoceses, causándoles bajas y dejando el frente británico en una situación precaria. En este turno los británicos han perdido 4 puntos de VD y los franceses 3.
The british heavy cavalry is Impetuous, so it is forced to charge through the field of the left to the French column (IL5), while the highlanders advance to support the attack. British line infantry (BLI4) and 95th rifles advance in the central forest, while French dragoons turn to face the new threat. The british general try to split the French. British line infantry (BLI3) rotates to attack the French column by the flank.
Meanwhile French attack the center scottish highlanders, causing them casualties and leaving the British front in a precaious situation. In this turn the British have lost 4 points and the French 3 VD points.
Octavo Turno / Eighth Turn
Turno decisivo para ambos bandos. La caballería pesada británica carga contra la columna francesa del flanco izquierdo, la cual consigue formar en cuadro, (llevando a cabo un Test de Disciplina con un -1 de penalización) y desbarata la carga británica, causándole bajas y permaneciendo intactos. Los highlanders avanzan a la carga contra el cuadro francés pero el fuego de metralla de su artillería acaba con el batallón. El segundo regimiento de Scots Greys comienza a recibir fuego por parte de los granaderos franceses.
El 95th de rifles británico dispara contra los granaderos franceses causando desorden pero sin conseguir hacer bajas. Mientras tanto los dragones franceses avanzan hacia los hostigadores. El centro y flanco izquierdo británico es presionado por las dos columnas francesas, la primera de ellas destruye el batallón de highlanders, a pesar de recibir fuego de artillería y de otro batallón de línea por su flanco, aquí las tiradas británicas ayudaron más a los franceses que a ellos mismos.
La segunda columna ataca a la infantería británica, perdiendo a la compañía de voltigueurs debido al fuego de mosquete. En la mele los británicos aguantan y hacen bajas a la columna francesa, destruyendo media columna. Al final del turno los británicos han perdido 10 puntos y los franceses 8 puntos de VD.
Decisive Turn for both armies. The British heavy cavalry charges against the French column of the left flank, which it manages to form in Square, (making a Discipline Test with a -1 penalty) and disrupts the British charge, causing casualties and remaining the french square intact. The Highlanders advance to charge the French squere but the shrapnel fire of their artillery ends with the battalion. The second Regiment of Scots Greys begins to receive fire by the French grenadiers.
The 95th of British rifles fired at the French grenadiers causing disorder but failed to make casualties, against the rain... Meanwhile the French dragoons advance towards the british skirmishers. The center and British left flank is pressed by two French columns, the first of them destroys the highlanders battalion, despite receiving artillery fire and fire from another line battalion by its flank.
The second column attacks the British infantry, losing the company of voltigueurs due to the musket fire. In the mele, the British endure and make casualties to the French column, destroying half column. At the end of the turn the British have lost 10 points and the French 8 points of VD.
Noveno Turno / Ninth Turn
Último turno de partida debido a la falta de tiempo para terminarla. La caballería británica sigue en melé contra el cuadro francés y el regimiento es destruido. El segundo regimiento de caballería pesada se dirige contra los granaderos franceses pero fallan la carga. El batallón de línea británico (BLI3) carga por el flanco contra la columna central francesa, y a su vez es cargado por el flanco por los hostigadores franceses. En la melé los británicos fallan el test de cohesión recibiendo más bajas que los franceses, y por tanto no consiguen desbandar la columna. De a ver perdido el general francés el test de cohesión, toda la columna francesa habría sido destruida. En el flanco derecho francés prosigue el combate con la unidad de línea británica, manteniéndose en mele.
Al final del último turno los británicos han perdido 13 puntos y los franceses 8 puntos. Siendo por tanto una victoria francesa. De haber jugado algún turno más los franceses habrían conseguido acabar con los británicos totalmente.
Last turn of game due to lack of time. The British cavalry continues in male against the French square and the regiment is destroyed. The second regiment of heavy cavalry is directed against the French grenadiers but they fail the charge. The British line battalion (BLI3) charges on the flank against the French central column, and at the same time is charged by the flank by the French skirmishers. In the melee the British fail the cohesion test receiving more casualties than the French, and therefore do not manage to disband the column. If the French general would have failed the cohesion test, the entire French column would have been destroyed. On the French right flank, the British line unit continues to fight, staying in mele.
At the end of the last turn the British have lost 13 points and the French 8 points. Being therefore a French victory. If we had played any more turn the French would have managed to do away with the British altogether.
Conclusiones / Conclusions
En estas dos partidas jugadas se ha demostrado la efectividad de las columnas francesas cuando llegan al combate cuerpo a cuerpo. En esta partida y debido a la lluvia llegaron sin bajas, ya que las líneas británicas no consiguieron eliminar los voltigueurs que protegían su frente. Tras esta partida haremos algunas modificaciones a reglas y añadidos para seguir mejorando esta modificación a Impetus.
These two games played has shown the effectiveness of the French columns when they reach the mele. In this game and due to the rain the french columns arrived without casualties, since the British lines failed to eliminate the voltigueurs that protected his front. After this game we will make some modifications to rules and additions to continue improving this modification for Impetus.

En esta partida y debido a la lluvia llegaron sin bajas, ya que las líneas británicas no consiguieron eliminar los voltigueurs que protegían su frente. Tras esta partida haremos algunas modificaciones a reglas y añadidos para seguir mejorando esta modificación a Impetus.
These two games played has shown the effectiveness of the French columns when they reach the mele. In this game and due to the rain the french columns arrived without casualties, since the British lines failed to eliminate the voltigueurs that protected his front. After this game we will make some modifications to rules and additions to continue improving this modification for Impetus.
Pues sí, partida muy interesante, si no llega a ser por la lluvia mis columnas no hubiesen podido llegar al combate. Intercalar infantería y caballería es una buena idea, ya que si el enemigo mantiene la línea puedes cargar con la caballería obteniendo muchos bonos, y si forma cuadro por temor a la caballería siempre va a hacer fuego de mosquete menos efectivo contra la infantería que avance. Supongo que es una forma de representar a la caballería en segunda línea esperando la oportunidad de cargar cuando vea debilitada a la infantería. Vive l'Empereur!
